Creating Holiday Traditions at Snyder Christmas Trees | Christmas Tree Farm Mini Sessions in Sherwood, Oregon

Why Create new holiday traditions on a christmas tree farm

The holidays are all about family. friends, celebrating old traditions, and creating new ones along the way. One thing I loved as a kid was loading up our Suburban and venturing out to get our Christmas tree as a family. We would always go to the same place year after year, and the excitement of finding the perfect tree was mixed with the comfort of being in a familiar place. I look back on those times now and think how amazing it would’ve been to have our family holiday card photos taken where we got our tree! That wasn’t an option for my family back then, which makes me so excited to be able to offer it is an option for your family at Snyder Christmas Trees in Sherwood, Oregon!

I don’t know about you, but I always save my families Christmas cards year after year, and I love looking back and seeing how my family has grown and changed. What a sweet tradition to be able to look back on your holiday cards taken at the Christmas tree farm you got your tree from! If your kids are anything like mine, they will love looking at the photos and recalling memories of the family venturing out together in the cold to find the perfect tree, then stopping in the barn for some hot cocoa and a candy cane.

Christmas tree farm mini Sessions in Sherwood Oregon

Christmas tree farm mini sessions are a quick, fun and festive way to get those Christmas card photos taken care of. They are 15 minute sessions (why we call them minis) which is awesome for families with young kids who don’t like to sit still for long! There’s plenty of room to run and play in the Christmas trees and I like to make it a fun and laid back experience. I usually do these at the beginning of November to allow enough time for families to order Christmas cards (see more on that below). An easy way to see when these are posted is to sign up for my email list here (scroll to the bottom to enter your information). Email subscribers get first dibs on available dates and times and they go quick!

Capturing the christmas tradition of cutting down the christmas tree

What about families who want to be photographed cutting down their tree and don’t want to do a mini session? I’ve got you covered! Another memorable way to create a holiday tradition with your family is to have a photographer take photos of your family as they look for their tree and cut it down, and bring it back to the car and load it up. Bonus - here at Stephanie Snyder Photography we offer short films - and you have the option to have a video made of this special family time in addition to the photos. Imagine watching these short films year after year while you sit by the fire with your tree all decorated for Christmas. Not going to lie - I’m getting excited for Christmas just thinking about this!

Where to order your christmas tree farm photos

If you ask most photographers, they will tell you to please please not order prints of your carefully hand-edited photos at big box stores such as Costco and Walmart. I know it can be so tempting because the price is right and you are already spending way too much money this holiday season. But trust me, you won’t regret going with a higher end professional printer, especially if you plan on keeping copies of the photos for yourself to look back on. If you get your photos taken by me, you always have the option to order holiday cards (as well as prints) straight from your gallery and that means straight from my number one preferred printing company. They are amazing and I order all my personal prints and canvases from them!

Most print companies run deals around the holidays so I suggest subscribing to their mailing list to be the first to know about these. Here are my top two printers that I recommend ordering your Christmas card photos from for some wow-worthy Christmas cards: Mpix, and Minted. I’ve always happy with how Christmas card photos turn out when ordering from these two companies. There are some other great printing companies out there, so make sure to do your research before you order.

If you are wanting to order larger prints I also love Smallwood Home - their products always turn out so well and I have several hanging on my walls in my own home.
