Fall Family Photoshoot | Graham Oaks Nature Park
One of my favorite places to photograph families is at Graham Oaks Nature Park in Wilsonville, Oregon. It’s not always easy to find good photography locations, so when I do I get so excited and can’t wait to recommend them to all my families!
One of the things I love about this spot is both the ease of getting there (it’s so close to I-5) AND parking (which, let’s be honest, parking can make or break a location). Tons of available parking, even on busy weekend days, makes the day of your session so much less stressful. There are so many things to think about the day of, parking should not be one of them!
Another great feature of this park is the paved pathway which means no hiking through mole hills to get to the perfect spot! It is about a 5-10 minute walk to where I like to take photos, so planning ahead and arriving early is important. The walk is a great excuse to enjoy the fresh air, beautiful scenery and let the kids stretch their legs and run around a bit.
This family is a past client and when they reached out and wanted to get some updated photos, we agreed that Graham Oaks Nature Park would be the perfect location for their photoshoot. We met in the parking lot and walked about 10 minutes to my favorite spot in the park. One thing I appreciate about locations like this is that even if there are several other photographers and park-goers around, it’s so spread out that you hardly notice. The weather was perfect and the sun was setting beautifully in the background. They brought their dog along and I was all for it. When families bring their dogs to their photoshoots it adds such an element of fun and they never regret getting them in a few photos - after all they are a part of your family!
