Fall Maternity Photos | Portland, Oregon
I’m so excited to share some of my favorite photos from a recent fall maternity photoshoot. I always feel so privileged and honored when couples ask me to photograph their growing family during this special time in their lives, and maternity sessions are fast becoming some of my favorites to photograph. As a mom of three, I know how exciting, scary, intimidating and beautiful pregnancy can be, and being able to capture these moments for expectant parents is so rewarding.
In my opinion, fall is one of the best times to get maternity photos taken. The weather is cooling off so it’s not as uncomfortable as during the summer, but it’s not so cold that you need to bundle up and worry about freezing in the rain or snow. This can make the experience more comfortable for expectant mamas, and comfort is such a big consideration when you’re expecting (saying from personal experience being super pregnant in August - twice!). The beautiful colors that come with the changing leaves, as well as the versatile outfit options that come with being able to layer outfits with sweaters or scarves are also big perks to getting your photos taken in the fall.
Choosing the perfect Location for your fall maternity photos
This mama to be wanted a portion of her session to be on a dock next to some water. I was thrilled to find the perfect spot at a dock at Champoeg Park, one of my favorite places for both maternity and family photoshoots. It was the perfect spot to get some of these bare-foot-and-pregnant laid back photos, and I love that they brought their puppy along!
We then drove a few minutes away to another side of the park to a beautiful field where we caught the sun at the perfect time just as it was setting, making for some intimate photos of this sweet couple eagerly awaiting the birth of their baby boy in a few short months.

Taking time to focus solely on the expectant mama is always a priority for me. There’s something so intimate and special about showcasing the miracle of life and the profound beauty of motherhood.
puppy love - bring your pooch to your maternity photoshoot!
This adorable pooch is part of the family and thus was is many of the photos! I always think it’s a great idea for families and couples to bring along their four legged friends. After all, we are documenting your life and family - they are a big part of the story.
