Spring family photos | Bush’s Pasture Park, salem oregon

Spring is still a few weeks away, but this past week full of snow and ice has got me dreaming of warmer weather and beautiful spring flowers. It’s also getting me excited for spring family photo sessions. Today I want to highlight one of my favorite spring photo sessions at Bush’s Pasture Park in Salem, Oregon.

the perfect location for spring mommy and me photos

One of my favorite things about this session was capturing the intimate bond between Nicole and her girls. This session was full of snuggles, laughs, playing in the flowers, and, I won’t lie, spending time getting the girls dresses unstuck from weeds in the grass (but hey, that’s life with kids). Mommy and Me sessions are some of my favorites to photograph because I know how much moms want beautiful, intimate photos of them with their child and I love being able to capture moments that reflect their inseparable bond. Whether it’s a Mommy and Me Session or one of your entire family, spring photos at Bush’s Pasture Park are something I would highly recommend.

On a side note, the girls are both wearing dresses from Joyfolie, one of my favorite online shops for girls’ and women’s dresses. If you’re looking for dreamy, whimsical dresses and clothing, check it out! Please note that this is not an affiliate link - I just really like their clothing.

One of my favorite things about Bush’s Pasture Park are the beautiful fields of camas flowers scattered throughout. It’s the perfect backdrop for dreamy spring family photos.

When you add in the trees and pathways that wind throughout this park, you really can’t go wrong.

Another thing that I appreciate is the lack of crowds - there is plenty of space to play and explore, so for parents with littles this can be a huge benefit. Side note- at the back of the camas fields there is a playground; I usually try to avoid that area until the very end when we are done taking photos. It’s the perfect way to end a family photo session and your kids will love having this play time as a wrap-up to our time together.

One more thing to consider is that most of this park is shaded by trees, so you won’t be getting the golden hour sunset photos at this location. However, the beautiful colors and scenery of this park give a whimsical feel making it worth missing the sunset (this coming from someone who scouts locations specifically for those backlit, golden hour photos).
